Site Information

The MAP Employees site provides multiple opportunities to view information about State employees' gross pay. Utilizing this site, you may:

  • Search and view gross pay amounts by state agency beginning with calendar year 2007.
  • Search and view gross pay amounts by position title beginning with calendar year 2007.
  • Search and view gross pay amounts by state employee name beginning with calendar year 2007.
  • Drill down to more specific information about gross pay amounts within each of these search options.
The gross pay data available on this site has been organized into three areas which include agency, employee name, and position title. Drill-down features have been incorporated into the site so that total gross pay may be viewed at different levels of detail. Further information about individual payments may be available upon request pursuant to the
Missouri Sunshine Law Chapter 610, RSMo.

Using the drill-down capability of this site, you can start with a state agency such as the Department of Revenue ("REVENUE"). Selecting "REVENUE" will provide the next level of information which is a list of the employees in that agency. Selecting a specific employee from that list will provide you with the detailed information for that employee for the calendar year selected. This detailed information will include a listing of all state agencies the employee has worked in, all position titles held by that employee, and gross pay information associated with each combination.

Missouri Housing Development Commission, Missouri Agriculture and Small Business Development Authority, Colleges, and University employees are not included in the MAP site.

Any information that is a closed record pursuant to the Missouri Sunshine Law or other applicable state or federal law or regulation will not be published on this site. However, every effort has been made to report all employee gross pay data where possible. In some instances names of individuals have been withheld to protect their confidentiality. Site Availability

This site will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week except during necessary site maintenance. The information published will contain the most recent pay date and will be based on the information available at the time.

Updating of Gross Pay Records

All gross pay information is based on a calendar year, which runs from January 1 through December 31 each year. Information is updated after the close of the calendar year based upon a final correcting payroll cycle run subsequent to December 31st.

Information for the current calendar year will be updated throughout the calendar year with each pay date until all payroll cycles for that year are complete. The State of Missouri pays employees twice per month on a lag basis. State pay dates are generally the 15th of each month and the last working day of each month. The exact pay date may be adjusted to account for weekends and holidays. A lag pay schedule means that employees are paid one full pay period after the pay period has ended. For example: Pay for the 1st through the 15th of January will be issued on January 31st.

Each pay date has subsequent correcting cycles. It is possible that an amount posted on the pay date will be updated once this correcting cycle posts to MAP.

Note: There are many circumstances that warrant an employees annual leave or compensatory time balances to be paid-off. These payments are processed as part of the regular payroll process. In these circumstances, an employee's gross pay may show a significant increase.



Site Glossary

Below are key terms associated with the MAP Employee site.
  • Agency - The term Agency is the highest level of functional organization of Missouri State government. The MAP Employee site will display the name of the Agency where the employee is assigned. This will be one of the 16 constitutionally defined executive departments such as the Department of Revenue or the Department of Public Safety; one of the six statewide elected official's offices such as the Governor or Lieutenant Governor's Offices; the Missouri Legislature; or the Judiciary system. The Public Defender's Office is combined with the Judiciary for the MAP system. Missouri Housing Development Commission, Missouri Agriculture and Small Business Development Authority, Colleges, and University employees are not included in the MAP site.
  • Gross Pay - The term Gross Pay is used to describe the total pay for an employee. This amount includes the regular pay, leave payments, shift differential, and special pay types. Gross Pay does not equate to taxable pay or taxable wages since many pretax benefits are available to employees. The amount shown in the MAP Employees site will not match to Box 1 of the employees' Form W2 for the calendar year because of possible participation in these pretax benefits and other imputed wages from benefits that are not part of this system.
  • Position Title - Position - A position is a unique set of duties, authorities and responsibilities. In the Uniform Classification and Pay system (and in most state agencies) positions are allocated to an appropriate classification. The position title in MAP is the title of the classification to which a position is allocated. The position title is the official classification title used for payroll and other reporting purposes. This may differ from the "working title" of the employee. In Uniform Classification and Pay system (UCP) agencies, positions within a class consist of relatively homogeneous duties, responsibilities and qualifications. For agencies not in the Uniform Classification and Pay system, the same or similar position title as the title used in a UCP agency does not necessarily mean the duties, responsibilities and qualifications are the same as those in a UCP agency. In instances where a position title has been revised, the most recent position title will be displayed in MAP. Approximately 60% of state employees are in a position classified under the Uniform Classification and Pay System.
  • YTD - Means calendar year to date. It represents the total amount of gross pay an employee received during a calendar year. Gross pay from all positions an employee held during the year is included in this amount.

The Pay Amounts by Agency page displays YTD total gross pay amounts by Agency. Scroll through the page to view information for all Agencies. Clicking the Statewide Total link at the bottom of the page will open in a new window where information on statewide totals is displayed. To view this information for a different calendar year, select the year from the Calendar Year selection box and click the "GO" button. Click on any column heading to sort the data. Multiple clicks on a column heading toggle the sort order from ascending to descending. When using a web browser other than Microsoft Internet Explorer, please utilize the drop down selection boxes located at the bottom of the page to change the sort order of the data. The Current Gross Pay column will only be available when the current calendar year is selected. To view more information about the payments for a specific Agency, click on the Agency name.





Employee List for an Agency

The Employee List for an Agency page displays a listing of the employees for the Agency selected on the Pay Amounts by Agency page. This page will default to an ascending alphabetic listing of employees that have been assigned to that specific Agency during the calendar year selected. The list may be expanded by clicking on the Show 10 Items per page drop-down box to increase the number shown on an individual page. You can also scroll through the list of employees by page by selecting the page numbers at the bottom of the screen.

To find a specific employee name, use the "Last name begins with" drop-down box to select the first letter of the employee's last name. Each individual employee of the state is only listed once per calendar year, when paid, regardless of the number of positions held. Clicking on the employee name will provide more detailed information on that employee.

To view this information for a different calendar year, select the year from the Calendar Year selection box and click the "GO" button. Click on any column heading to sort the data. Multiple clicks on a column heading toggle the sort order from ascending to descending. Employee Details

The Employee Details page displays all pay information for an employee for the selected calendar year. The information displayed is not limited to a specific Agency or Position Title.

To view this information for a different calendar year, select the year from the Calendar Year selection box and click the "GO" button. Click on any column heading to sort the data. Multiple clicks on a column heading toggle the sort order from ascending to descending. When using a web browser other than Microsoft Internet Explorer, please utilize the drop down selection boxes located at the bottom of the page to change the sort order of the data. The Last Paid Date and Current Gross Pay columns are only included when viewing information for current calendar year searches.



Search by Employee Name

The Search by Employee Name page provides various methods to search for information based on an employee name. To search for an employee by name, select the calendar year, the agency where the employee worked (if known) and the first letter(s) of the employee's first and/or last name, and then click the "GO" button. NOTE: Searches are not case-sensitive.




Employee Name Search Results

The Employee Name Search Results page displays a listing of the employee names matching the search criteria entered on the Search by Employee Name page for the desired calendar year. The employee names default to an alphabetical listing in ascending order by employee last name.

To view this information for a different calendar year, select the year from the Calendar Year selection box and click the "GO" button. Click on any column heading to sort the data. Multiple clicks on a column heading toggle the sort order from ascending to descending. When using a web browser other than Microsoft Internet Explorer, please utilize the drop down selection boxes located at the bottom of the page to change the sort order of the data. The Current Gross Pay column will only be displayed when viewing results for current calendar year searches.

Each individual employee of the state is only listed once per calendar year paid, regardless of the number of positions held. However, it is not uncommon for one employee to hold more than one position during the selected timeframe, either simultaneously or at different times. Click on the employee name to obtain more details for that person, including all positions held during the selected time frame.

Search by Postition Title

The Search by Position Title page is the starting point for searching employee information based on Position Title. The page offers options for conducting searches where the desired Position Title begins with or contains the letter, letters or words entered as the search criteria. For example, if searching for information on Accountants, you may enter an "A" and select the "Position Title begins with" option. This search will return all position titles beginning with the letter "A". To narrow the results returned you may refine the search criteria and conduct another search.

If you are interested in viewing information for position titles that relate to a specific function, for example accounting, you may enter "account" in the text box, select the "Position Title contains" option and then click "GO". The results from this search will include all position titles that contain the text "account". This would include the position titles of Account Clerk and Accounting Analyst as well as Chief Accountant.

Regardless of the search option chosen, once the selection criterion has been entered, select a calendar year from the drop down box and click the "GO" button.

Note: Searches are not case-sensitive.



Position Title Search Results

The Position Title Search Results page displays a listing of the position titles matching the criteria entered on the Search by Position Title page. The position titles returned will be listed alphabetically in ascending order. Click on a Position Title to view detail information about the position by Agency.

If you are interested in viewing information for position titles that relate to a specific function, for example accounting, you may enter "account" in the text box, select the "Position Title contains" option and then click "GO". The results from this search will include all position titles that contain the text "account". This would include the position titles of Account Clerk and Accounting Analyst as well as Chief Accountant.

To view this information for a different calendar year, select the year from the Calendar Year selection box and click the "GO" button. Click on any column heading to sort the data. Multiple clicks on a column heading toggle the sort order from ascending to descending. Position Title by Agency

The Position Title by Agency page displays a listing of the agencies that have had one or more employees classified in a specific Position Title during the selected calendar year. The combined current and YTD gross pay amounts for all employees in that Position Title for the selected calendar year is displayed for each agency. When the current calendar year is selected for the search, a column displaying the Current Gross Pay amount for each agency will also be displayed.

To view this information for a different calendar year, select the year from the Calendar Year selection box and click the "GO" button. Click on any column heading to sort the data. Multiple clicks on a column heading toggle the sort order from ascending to descending. Employees in a Position Title

The Employees in a Position Title page displays a list of the employees having held a specific position title for the agency selected on the Position Title by Agency page during the selected calendar year. The employee names are displayed alphabetically in ascending order by default. Click on an Employee Name to view detail information for that employee.

To view this information for a different calendar year, select the year from the Calendar Year selection box and click the "GO" button. Click on any column heading to sort the data. Multiple clicks on a column heading toggle the sort order from ascending to descending. When using a web browser other than Microsoft Internet Explorer, please utilize the drop down selection boxes located at the bottom of the page to change the sort order of the data.
